Workers from National Grid and Niagara University will distribute free LED light bulbs to residents of a Niagara Falls neighborhood on April 20.
The targeted streets are Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh streets, between Niagara Street and Pine Avenue.
Workers will be in the neighborhood from 9 to 11 a.m. and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., offering four of the new energy-saving bulbs as replacements for old ones.
The effort is part of the South End Housing Initiative, a collaboration of 25 community partners and residents seeking to revitalize the neighborhood and improve "curb appeal" of homes through minor repairs, landscaping and energy upgrades.
"This area of the city has great possibilities to bring in new and rehabilitated housing," said Patti Wrobel, executive director of Niagara University’s Levesque Institute for Civic Engagement.
