More free concerts, a new seating option and a lineup rich in country music are some of the highlights of the just announced Erie County Fair Grandstand music lineup.
The 179th edition of the fair runs from Aug. 8 to 19 at the Hamburg Fairgrounds. Opening night features a concert by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, only the fifth performance of the BPO at the fair. It is one of four free concerts, double the number from 2017. The others are the Fab Four on Aug. 11, Oak Ridge Boys on Aug. 13 and Midland on Aug. 14. Two of the free concerts - Oak Ridge Boys and Midland - offer the option of "preferred track" pricing which provides priority seating for $20.
"Nashville Star" winner and platinum hit maker Chris Young will take the Grandstand stage on Aug. 9. The Tennessee native released his most recent record, the polished "Losing Sleep," last year.
The lineup will be rounded out with performances by the well-groomed blues-rockers of ZZ Top on Aug. 10 and former Philadelphia teen idols Frankie Avalon, Fabian and Bobby Rydell who will team up as Dick Fox's Golden Boys to perform their greatest hits on Aug. 12.
Advance tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. April 19 through the Fairgrounds main office, Tickets.com or charge by phone at 888-223-6000. Tickets purchased in advance will include free admission to the Fair for the day of the performance.
