The Buffalo Sabres have again dipped their toes into the college free agent pool.
Buffalo has signed forward Andrew Oglevie of Notre Dame to a two-year, entry-level contract for the rookie maximum of $925,000 per season. The 23-year-old just finished his junior year, leading the Fighting Irish with 15 goals and finishing second with 39 points in 36 games. He recorded 21 goals and 41 points in 40 games as a sophomore.
Oglevie will join the Sabres' organization in the fall.
The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder served as an alternate captain for Notre Dame, which lost, 2-1, to Minnesota Duluth in the NCAA title game. The native of Fullerton, Calif., played four years in the United States Hockey League and was a member of the USA Hockey under-19 team for two seasons.
Recent college signees for Buffalo include defenseman Casey Nelson and forward Evan Rodrigues.
