Town of Lockport Councilwoman Darlene S. DiCarlo is expected to become director of the Niagara County Office of the Aging.
DiCarlo's appointment by County Manager Richard E. Updegrove was confirmed by a County Legislature committee Monday night. The full Legislature will vote next week.
DiCarlo said she will remain on the Town Board but will step down as deputy town supervisor. The county post will pay $62,740 a year. The previous Office of Aging director, Kenneth M. Genewick, resigned last month to take a private-sector job.
DiCarlo has worked since 2001 at Odd Fellows and Rebekah Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Lockport, first as controller and human resources director, then as chief financial officer. However, her duties were transferred to the Elderwood chain's corporate office after the facility was acquired by Elderwood in January.
