Larkin Express Logistics has opened a freight brokerage at 737 Delaware Ave. and expects to create up to 53 full-time jobs in the next five years.
The newly formed company is investing nearly $700,000 at its offices, just south of Summer Street. Empire State Development Corp. is offering up to $300,000 in Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits, which are collected when a company meets job creation commitments.
Larkin Express Logistics connects shippers with vehicles to make shipments. Invest Buffalo Niagara says it helped attract the company to the region based on its available workforce, a "close-knit" business community and affordable real estate.
The company, which has about a half dozen employees so far, is currently hiring business development, account management and carrier operations staff.
