State Police: Man charged with assault after alleged altercation in suburban parking lot

An Amherst man was arrested on assault charges following an alleged altercation Saturday in a parking lot in Clarence, according to State Police.
State Police said an investigation revealed that a couple was walking in front of the Aldi's on Transit Road in Clarence when Raed Saleh, 43, allegedly approached them in a vehicle.
A verbal altercation allegedly ensued after it was alleged that Saleh had driven his vehicle too close to the pedestrians, State Police said.
During the exchange, Saleh allegedly bumped one of the pedestrians with his vehicle, State Police said.
Saleh exited his vehicle and allegedly struck one of the pedestrians with a baseball bat, State Police said.
Saleh was charged with second-degree assault, criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a weapon, State Police said. He was arraigned in Clarence Town Court, State Police said.
