A man attempted an armed robbery of a West Side minimart over the weekend, but apparently took off when the person behind the register didn't hand over the money fast enough.
According to Buffalo police, the man walked into the minimart at 260 Rhode Island St., showed a firearm and said, "Give me the money in the register."
The person behind the counter opened the cash register drawer but didn't remove the money, according to the report. The suspect remained there for about 15 seconds before fleeing the store and running east on Rhode Island, the report stated. The store is providing surveillance footage to police.
