Orchard Park Police received several calls late Saturday about a vehicle crashing into parked cars on Lake Avenue east of Abbott Road. Other callers reported that the driver drove away from the scene, heading eastbound, despite having significant damage to the front of his vehicle, which also was missing a front tire and had deployed its air bags.
Officer Michael Mackey, who was heading westbound on Lake Avenue, saw the vehicle pulling into a driveway. According to police, when Mackey questioned the driver, he denied any knowledge or involvement in the crashes, despite the appearance of his car.
Andrew A. Zwick, 44, of Orchard Park then proceeded to fail all field sobriety tests. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a property damage crash, driving an unregistered vehicle and six other traffic and vehicle violations. His vehicle was impounded.
