A Buffalo man was arrested early Friday after he "went off" inside Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, breaking three large windows and causing in excess of $10,000 worth of damage.
Hospital staffers said the man walked up to a nurse's station at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday saying he was about to "go off," and then punched a wall and a large window. The man then smashed a chair on the floor and used one of the broken chair legs to shatter two additional windows. He then sat down and gave the chair leg to a hospital program aide before police arrived and he was taken into custody.
Tyrell Calhoun, 24, of Minnesota Avenue, is accused of breaking three windows valued at $3,200 apiece, and a chair valued at $500, police said. He was charged with a felony count of second-degree criminal mischief.
