Special Olympics 'Snow Bowl' takes over New Era Field on Saturday

The Second Annual Buffalo Snow Bowl to benefit Special Olympics New York will be held Saturday at New Era Field. Each team registered for the 6-on-6 Flag Football Tournament has raised a minimum of $1,000 to participate.

Opening Ceremonies begin at 8:30 a.m. (the 25 participating teams will be announced and will run out of the tunnel) and games begin promptly at 9 a.m. Championship rounds will begin at 3:20 p.m. Players must be 18 years or older and they compete in three divisions; Pro League, Amateur League and Co-Ed League. Four games will be going on at the same time, with each team having the opportunity to score in the Buffalo Bills end zone.

Awards will be given in each division for the winning teams.

Those heading to New Era Field to watch the games should enter at Lot 2, Gate 1.

The event raised over $40,000 this year, with a $5,000 sponsorship from New Era Cap, according to Special Olympics. The U.S. Border Patrol topped fundraising with over $6,500.
