[BN] Blitz newsletter: Rex Ryan thinks Bills should draft Wyoming's Josh Allen

Ex-Bills coach Rex Ryan was asked about his former team in an interview this week with Sports Illustrated's The MMQB. Ryan projected the Bills trading up to No. 2 to select Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen.

"If I was them, I would take Josh Allen," Ryan said. "You need to have a guy to throw the ball in windy conditions, and no one has a bigger arm than that kid."

Not sure if Rex's recommendation on a quarterback helps or hurts the public perception of the player, but his pick was Allen, who has been a popular Bills target in recent mock drafts.

Surgeon says Jim Kelly's recovery continues to progress: “Mr. Kelly continues to recover well,” Dr. Mark Urken said in a statement released by Mount Sinai West Hospital. “In addition to his own incredible toughness, he is surrounded by an extraordinarily supportive family.”

On his birthday, Zay Jones says he's "thankful to be alive": Jones turned 23 on Friday and posted that he is "thankful to be alive" after a strange ordeal landed him under arrest earlier this month. Jones also seemed to corroborate some of the more disturbing parts of the TMZ report, posting on Instagram that his brother Cayleb "literally saved my life."

Gronkowski reportedly has acting job: Patriots start tight end and Amherst native Rob Gronkowski has reportedly landed a role in a Mel Gibson action movie, according to the website Tracking Board.

How the Bills' offseason spending ranks thus far: The Bills rank 11th in the NFL in total value of contracts handed out so far this offseason, Mark Gaughan wrote.
