Wind gusts of up to 60 mph are possible across most of Western New York starting Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Cheektowaga.
The weather service has issued a high wind watch for late Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning, with potentially damaging winds that could damage trees and bring down power lines.
The watch is in effect for Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming and Chautauqua counties.
Winds out of the southwest are predicted at 25 mph to 35 mph, gusting up to 60 mph, the weather service said.
Conditions also could make it hazardous for travel in high-profile vehicles.
