It was the 28th overtime game of the season for the Rochester Americans. But it didn't take long for the Amerks to pick up that second point.
Colin Blackwell scored just 12 seconds into OT to give Rochester a 4-3 win over the Charlotte Checkers in BlueCross Arena Friday night.
It was a four-point night for Blackwell who scored just 35 seconds into the third period while picking up two assists.
Charlotte took a 1-0 lead after the first period. Alexander Nylander netted his seventh of the season at 4:13 of the second, with assists from Blackwell and Hudson Fasching, to tie the game, but the Checkers regained a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.
Blackwell's goal tied the game in the third but Charlotte, again, pulled ahead for a 3-2 lead.
Redmond scored at 14:37 to tie the game, eventually sending it to overtime.
Jonas Johansson made 18 saves in the win.
Rochester plays at Binghamton at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
