A Town of Lockport man was arrested in Niagara County Court Thursday after a warrant was delivered, announcing he had been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges that he possessed a stolen semiautomatic rifle and 446 rounds of ammunition.
Daniel F. Hunt, 41, of Academy Lane, had just pleaded not guilty to a county grand jury indictment charging him with illegal possession of the same rifle and driving while intoxicated.
The rifle and bullets allegedly were in Hunt's vehicle when he was pulled over Sept. 21 in the City of Lockport.
Hunt has been to state prison four times since 1994, twice for robberies and twice for burglaries. Hunt had posted $15,000 bail on the local indictment, but was held without bail on the federal charge.
