Forklift hits Buffalo police car, operator charged with DWI

A man operating a forklift was charged Tuesday night with driving while intoxicated on Goodyear Avenue after he struck a marked Buffalo police vehicle, according to a police report.

Anthony L. Young, 58, of Genesee Street, was accused of failing to use his turn signal, police said. He hit the police vehicle as he turned into the Super Price Choppers at Genesee and Goodyear, according to the report. Young failed field sobriety tests at the scene.

The forklift was owned by a Goodyear Avenue resident who did not give Young permission to use it, according to the report. In addition to DWI, Young was charged with third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle and ticketed for failing to use a turn signal, according to police.
