“Transformational Leadership: Women in Power” will take place on March 10, 2018, at the Bar Association of Erie County, 438 Main St., Buffalo, from 8:00 a.m. to noon in the auditorium. This forum will explore issues of professional value, safety, and career navigation in a male-dominated world, as well as provide a safe space for women to network and learn from some of the most influential women in the region.
Leadership issues will be discussed by a panel including Aviva Abramovsky, dean of the University at Buffalo Law School; Ulla Bak, co-founder and president of Bak USA; Catherine Fisher Collins, a member of the New York State Board of Regents; Claudine Ewing, a reporter and anchor at Channel 2 (WGRZ-TV) News; Leslie Feidt, chief information officer at Erie County Medical Center; Nancy Nielsen, past president of the American Medical Association and Rose H. Sconiers, retired justice, Appellate Division of state Supreme Court.
There also will be a presentation on negotiating salaries, bonuses and promotions given by attorney Lisa Coppola, past president of the National Association of Women Business Owners; a lesson on how to perform self-evaluations and reviews to help professional advancement, given by psychologist and diversity consultant Ursuline Bankhead; a question-and-answer period; and networking opportunities.
