WNED, WBFO name Rosenthal as Meyer's replacement

WNED-TV and WBFO-FM didn't need to look too far to find the replacement for Brian Meyer as senior director of news and public affairs for the local public television and radio station.

Dave Rosenthal, who has been of managing editor for WBFO's "Great Lakes Today" Regional Journalism Collaboration, will take Meyer's job on April 1. Meyer announced in January that he would be ending his more than three-year run at the end of March.

Since its 2016 launch, "Great Lakes Today" has produced more than 30 reports for national public radio programs.

Rosenthal will be in charge of the award-winning WBFO news department and news and public affairs content for WNED and digital media projects.

Like Meyer, Rosenthal has a newspaper background. He is a former senior editor of investigations and enterprise for the Baltimore Sun.

A news director still to be named under the restructuring of some positions will report to Rosenthal.
