Sheriff's Office: Batavia motorist arrested after allegedly driving while intoxicated

Genesee County Sheriff's deputies Thursday arrested a Batavia man who allegedly drove while intoxicated while they were investigating a property damage accident involving another motorist, according to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office.

Robert V. Campbell, 35, of Collegeview Drive, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after he registered a blood-alcohol level of at least .18, the Sheriff's Office said.

Campbell was also charged with DWI, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said.

Sheriff's deputies were assisting Batavia police in investigating a vehicle accident that resulted in property damage, the Sheriff's Office said.

The female driver involved in the crash had fled, but police located the vehicle at her Collegeview Drive residence, the Sheriff's Office said.

Campbell drove his vehicle to the location at about 7 p.m., the Sheriff's Office said. Officers noticed that he was in an allegedly intoxicated condition, the Sheriff's Office said.
