Clarence readies for a new neighborhood of high-end homes

After two decades of being stalled by issues involving zoning, sewers and wetlands, a 52-acre subdivision of 77 single-family homes off of Greiner Road in Clarence appears to be nearing reality.

A public hearing on the proposed Woodland Hills subdivision is set for March 28. The owner, Fred Cimato, appeared at Wednesday's Town Board meeting.

The subdivision has been scaled back over the years, from 99 single-family homes on smaller lots to 77 single-family homes, with values ranging from $350,000 to $500,000 range, Cimato said.

Cimato bought the land in 1995. Sewers have since been added and the land has been rezoned from agricultural to residential.

Asked when he might finally start building, Cimato said, "I'd hate to comment on that. I might give myself bad luck."
