CHURCH NOTES – Orchard Park United Methodist Church, 3700 N. Buffalo St., Orchard Park, will host World Day of Prayer at 1 p.m. Friday for the churches of Orchard Park, Hamburg and West Seneca.

CLEAR THE SHELVES – The Kenmore Mercy Hospital Auxiliary will start collecting books, CDs and DVDs in good condition Thursday for their sale in April. A collection bin will be stationed at the hospital’s main entrance throughout the month of March. No encyclopedias, Reader’s Digest condensed books or cassettes will be accepted.

BOTANICAL BEAUTIES – It’s the event that orchid lovers have been waiting for – the Niagara Frontier Orchid Society’s annual Spring Show in the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2665 South Park Ave. In addition to displays, there will be orchid vendors and growing demonstrations.
