The state Thruway Authority announced on Tuesday that it will sell E-ZPass On-The-Go tags at all cash lanes at the Grand Island toll barrier.
The announcement comes as the state plans to begin cashless tolling in Grand Island by the end of March and expand cashless tolling systemwide by the end of 2020.
Motorists can pick up an E-ZPass On-The-Go tag in the cash lanes of the Grand Island toll barrier for $25, cash only, plus the cost of the toll for that trip. Customers must register the tag online or by calling 1-800-697-1554. The $25 will be credited in full to the customers to use on future tolls. Drivers with E-ZPass receive a 5 percent discount on tolls.
E-ZPass tags can purchased at Thruway service areas, grocery stores and convenience stores and government offices.
