Niagara Falls Police Tuesday recovered a BB gun that had allegedly been discarded in an abandoned property on Willow Avenue by two Abate Elementary School students before they arrived to school, according to Niagara Falls Schools Superintendent Mark Laurrie.
In a media statement Tuesday, Laurrie said the students' alleged actions were observed by a parent, who notified the school.
The students were questioned by school administrators and admitted they had the BB gun, Laurrie said.
Administrators notified police who located the BB gun, which was then secured by the Niagara Falls Police Department, he said.
"At no time was the BB gun on school premises. The students’ parents were notified; the students are facing school and police consequences," Laurrie said in the statement.
