When Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene of a tractor trailer in a ditch on Route 39 at Hopper Road in Forestville shortly after 1 a.m. Monday, the driver said he had swerved to miss a deer.
Then, the deputies found the driver, Dillon J. Kohler, 25, of Dunkirk, had in his possession heroin and a hypodermic instrument, sheriff's officials said. They also discovered that there was an active arrest warrant for Kohler out of the City of Dunkirk.
Kohler was charged with misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument. He was turned over to Dunkirk police.
