Pair of Buffalo crashes leads to aggravated DWI charge

A Buffalo man who police believe was involved in two crashes less than a block apart near Riverside Park on Saturday night was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, according to a police report.

Eh Kler, 38, of Humphrey Road, was arrested shortly before 8 p.m. at Tonawanda Street and Laird Avenue, where police saw him driving forward and backward into another vehicle, according to the report.

Kler, who also was charged with being in possession of khat, a plant chewed for its stimulating effects, also struck a another vehicle a short distance away on Tonawanda Street, according to the report. Police found empty beer containers behind Kler's driver's seat.

Officers charged Kler with DWI, aggravated DWI, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unsafe backing, failure to keep right and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident.
