A man who moved to Michigan while on probation for a 2013 store burglary in Niagara Falls was sentenced Friday to one to three years in state prison.
Xavier T. Faura, 23, had a job in Kalamazoo, Mich., but police there discovered a Niagara County warrant for his arrest when they recently pulled him over for a traffic stop.
Faura left Niagara County in 2014 after three months of interim probation, following a guilty plea to a reduced charge of attempted third-degree burglary.
"I can't reward that conduct," County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III said.
Faura and two other men smashed their way into NYC Jewelry and Electronics Outlet, 1605 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, on Feb. 17, 2013. One of the others completed a court-supervised drug treatment program, while the third served nine months in prison.
