HERTEL, Mary Ann Barbara Diegelman

HERTEL - Mary Ann Barbara Diegelman November 12, 1934 - February 14, 2018. Mary Ann Hertel, age 83, went to be with our gracious Lord on February 14, 2018. She passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side at her daughter's home in San Antonio, TX. Mary Ann was born on November 12, 1934, in Buffalo, NY to Freda and Sylvester Diegelman. She spent her entire life in Buffalo where she attended Mount Saint Mary Academy. After raising her five children, Mary Ann returned to the workforce for the County of Erie from which she ultimately entered retirement. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Freda and Sylvester, her beloved son, Jeffrey, her beloved granddaughter, Jessica, her sister, Theresa and her brothers, Gerard and Kenny. She is survived by her sister, Joan Britt Wright (Wayne), and her brothers Bernard Diegelman (Marilyn), Harold Diegelman (Anita), Gordon Diegelman (Linda), and Joseph Diegelman (the late Lynn); brother in law, Lawrence Carlin; and by her son, James and wife, Alicia; grandchildren, Dallas Ford and Tonya Metzger; great-grandchildren, Bella and Riley; daughter, Debora Zack; grandchildren, Meagan Zack and Samantha and Dave Schupp; daughter, Susan Pisano and her husband, Steven; grandchildren, Matthew, Justin and Giovanna; son, Gerald and his wife, Julie; grandchildren, Kenzie, Madison, Bryn and Lauren; and numerous siblings, nieces and nephews. Mary Ann was a devoted mother, proud grandma and great-grandmother, dear sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend. Mary Ann loved to play cards with her siblings and friends and was an avid bowler. She dedicated many years to serving on the boards of her numerous bowling leagues, as well as the board of Rebecca Park. Traveling was a joy of hers and included trips to Australia, Hawaii, Rome and the Vatican City. But, her favorite adventures were to visit her grandkids. Mary Ann will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Heaven got an amazing angel on Valentine's Day. She will be forever in our hearts. A mass and celebration of Mary Ann's life will take place in the Spring in Buffalo, NY.
