A 29-year-old Orchard Park man, who ran several stop signs while driving in excess of 70 mph through residential streets before dawn Saturday, was charged with drunk driving and several traffic violations, according to Orchard Park police.
Officers spotted a 2009 Toyota Camry speeding down Thorn Avenue at about 4:40 a.m. When they attempted to stop the car, the driver continued speeding through neighborhood streets until coming to a stop on Highland Avenue and Freeman Road in the Village of Orchard Park, police said.
The driver, Corey Derenda, refused to take a breath test, police said. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, speeding, unlawfully fleeing police and four counts of failing to stop at stop signs.
