It's one of the best regular season results in Canisius College program history. And the wins kept rolling for the Golden Griffins Sunday afternoon.
With a 98-74 win over Marist in the Koessler Athletic Center, the Griffs finished with a 15-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference record – the best conference mark in program history. Their 21-10 overall mark ties the program record for most regular season wins with the 1993-94 squad.
With Rider defeating Iona, 110-101, Canisius is co-champion with the Broncs but the Griffs will take the No. 2 seed in the MAAC tournament as Rider wins the tiebreaker.
Meanwhile, Niagara secured the third seed in the MAAC tournament, which begins March 1 in Times Union Center in Albany.
The final bracket will not be out until after the final regular season game of the season, a 6 p.m. tip-off between Quinnipiac and Manhattan.
But what we do know is that Canisius will play its first game at 9:30 p.m. Friday versus the winner of the game between No. 7 and No. 10.
Niagara, meanwhile, won't start the tournament until Saturday, playing at 7 p.m. against the winner of the No.6-No. 11 game.
