Letter: Ramirez’s editorial cartoon on guns told only half the truth

Ramirez’s editorial cartoon on guns told only half the truth

I found it very interesting the points Michael Ramirez made in his Feb. 17 political cartoon about Sen. Ted Cruz. Unfortunately, he only encompassed half the truth. He failed to finish his work by not including the top portion that included the “leaves” on the trunk of Cruz’s body. He just included the roots. The “leaves” that should have been addressed on the upper portion of the caricature should have included the radio and television airwaves that include right-wing propaganda on gun rights, etc. That bombardment of propaganda to unstable minds is perhaps the fire that lights the fuses of deranged minds to do the unthinkable, such as killing innocent children.

Also, Ramirez forgot to place the automatic weapons in Cruz’s hands, which were the instruments that finished the caricature. Too bad people such as the cartoonist are only good at telling half truths and not the entire story. Hopefully in the future his point can be beneficial to all and not just people who think as he does.
