Bead students will enjoy spring class at Niagara History Center

Stephanie Drehs will teach students how to make a beaded fabric box using William Morris’ “Strawberry Thief” design in a 4-session spring class at the Niagara History Center, beginning March 13.

Beginning and experienced bead students will meet from 3 to 5 p.m. March 13, March 27, April 3 and April 10. They will top a small oval box with a velvet lid using raised bead embroidery techniques, reminiscent of the Victorian era.

Drehs, an award-winning local artists, will lead the class at the History Center’s 215 Niagara St., Lockport site.

The class fee is $50 and you may bring your own beading supplies or purchase complete bead kits from the teacher for $25. Additional beads are sold at the center’s gift shop. Call 434-7433 to register and receive a supply list. There is limited class space.
