Ulta Beauty will leave its space at McKinley Mall next month and relocate to Quaker Crossing.
The cosmetics retailer will have about 2,000 more square feet for its hair, skin, beauty, nail, massage and salon products in the new Orchard Park location. It will close the McKinley Mall store on March 27 and open at 3489 Amelia Drive on March 28.
The move will leave a yawning void at the Hamburg mall. Ulta was part of a makeover strategy at the mall that put Ulta Beauty, Best Buy, Old Navy and Bed, Bath and Beyond in a strip plaza format on the side of the mall facing McKinley Parkway.
Like most second-tier malls, McKinley has struggled with vacancies. Most notably, two Macy's stores totaling 127,000 square feet closed at the mall in 2016. The space was bought by Benderson Development soon after, but remains empty.
