Mexican man sentenced to one-year time served for returning to U.S. after 2009

A Mexican national who was deported then convicted of illegally re-entering the United States after a conviction for an aggravated felony, was sentenced to one-year time served by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara

Armando Navarrete-Dominguez, 29, was taken into police custody Feb. 15, 2017, following a traffic stop on Grand Island, according to the U.S. Attorney's office. A records check revealed that Navarrete-Dominguez was a citizen of Mexico who had previously been convicted in North Carolina of sexual exploitation of a minor, as well as breaking and entering. Naverrete-Dominguez was subsequently deported back to Mexico in 2009 following his convictions in North Carolina.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Border Patrol.
