A man allegedly brandished a large knife at a clerk Thursday during the robbery of an electronics store in Eggertsville, Amherst police said.
Justin Arnold, 29, of Buffalo was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree burglary and first-degree possession of a forged instrument, Amherst Police said.
Amherst Police at about 1 p.m. responded to a call of an armed robbery at a Main Street business, Amherst Police said.
The clerk on duty reported she had been robbed by a man with a large knife who fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash, Amherst Police said.
A police officer was approached by an on-duty town building inspector whose portable radio can monitor police communications, Amherst Police said. He told police he saw a person matching a description of the individual at a nearby restaurant, Amherst Police said.
Officers surrounded the restaurant and arrested Arnold, Amherst Police said. Police using a K-9 search recovered Arnold's alleged weapon nearby, Amherst Police said.
Arnold was held at the Erie County Holding Center without bail.
