Olean man charged with leaving scene of accident, fleeing police

An Olean man was facing a slew of charges including a felony count of fleeing a police officer and leaving the scene of an injury accident Tuesday night, Cattaraugus County Sheriff's officials said.

Deputies were dispatched to a crash on Buffalo Road in the Town of Allegany at about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday. A passenger inside was seriously injured and taken to Erie County Medical Center.

The suspected driver, identified as Rolland W. Neilly, 30, was later located in Olean and taken into custody. He was charged with felony unlawful fleeing from a police officer and causing injury to a third party, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, speeding and failure to keep right.

Neilly was arraigned in Town Court and was being held on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.

Officials said he may face more charges.
