Lancaster police warned Thursday that multiple residents have reported their cars being broken into over the past several days.
Money and other property were taken from the vehicles in several Lancaster neighborhoods, police said.
"Almost all of these incidents occurred overnight and involved vehicles that had been left unlocked," police said in a Facebook post.
They recommended car owners remove money and valuables from vehicles or at least put them in the trunk or locked compartment. They advised vehicles be locked and that windows should be closed. Cars should also be parked in well-lit areas.
Lancaster police asked anyone who sees suspicious activity in their neighborhoods to call them at 683-2800 or 911.
