Garden Notes: Butterflies, bloomers and a 'Souper Bowl'

The Buffalo Area Daylily Society will hold its “Souper Bowl” meeting Feb. 25 at the East Aurora Senior Center, 101 King St., East Aurora. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Program begins at 2 p.m.

Mike Shadrack will present “A View of Daylilies from the Hosta Side of the Garden.” All welcome. Free admission. Soups and other refreshments.

Hamburg House and Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m.  Feb. 27 in the Community Center, 107 Prospect Ave., Hamburg. David O’Donnell, of Eastern Monarch Butterfly Farm, will present “Flight of the Monarch.” Business meeting to follow. For club information, call Nancy Kalieta at 826-7462.

Amherst Garden Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 28 in St. John Lutheran Church, 6540 Main St., Williamsville. Linda Blyth, co-owner of Song ‘n Bird Gardens, will present “Unusual and Late Blooming Perennials.”

The Orchid Show comes to the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens March 3-4. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 3 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 4. Featured will be displays of award-winning orchids, educational programs, vendors. It is presented by the Niagara Frontier Orchid Society and the Botanical Gardens.

Tickets available at the door. Admission: $11 adults; $10 seniors (62+ with identification); $9 students (13+ with identification); $6 kids ages 3-12; free for members and children age 2 and younger. Visit buffalogardens.com.
