Hamburg IDA executive director dies

Michael J. Bartlett, the executive director of the Hamburg Industrial Development Agency, died Tuesday after being stricken at home.

Bartlett, 71, had headed the IDA since 1994.

"It just crushed us," said Hamburg village Mayor Thomas J. Moses Sr. "He was just a great guy."

Bartlett, a Canisius College graduate, worked on hundreds of projects to attract and retain businesses in the town over the years, including the $51 million FedEx distribution plant at Bayview Road and Route 5.
