Niagara County judge limits sentence to 6 years for three-time gun felon

Thomas M. Campbell of Lockport, who pleaded guilty Tuesday to his third gun felony in the past year, will serve no more than six years in prison, Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III said in approving a plea deal.

Murphy will pass sentence April 9 on Campbell, 31, of William Street, who admitted Tuesday to criminal possession of a firearm. He acknowledged ownership of a sawed-off shotgun found in a June 27 drug raid at his father's Niagara Falls home.

Campbell previously pleaded guilty to the same charge for having a loaded revolver in his car in a parking lot at Genesee and Waterman streets in Lockport Sept. 19, and to attempted second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for having an unregistered handgun in a May 10 Niagara Falls traffic stop.
