With Tuesday's heavy rains came more sewage overflows.
The NY-Alert reporting system showed 51 reported overflows from sewage treatment plants across Western New York into area waterways between midnight and 3 p.m.
- An estimated 258,000 gallons released from the Falls Street sewage outfall at the base of the American Falls;
- Seven bypasses in Lockport into Eighteen Mile Creek and the Erie Canal near the Widewaters marina;
- Eight discharges in the city and town of Tonawanda and North Tonawanda into Ellicott Creek and the Niagara River;
- A pair of discharges each nearing 1 million gallons in Dunkirk into Lake Erie near Wright Park.
On Monday, there were a half-dozen sewage overflows into Scajaquada Creek by both Buffalo and Cheektowaga and an additional 2.4 million gallon discharge at the Falls Street outfall in Niagara Falls, according to the NY-Alert reporting system.
