Woman faces felony DWI charge after 'hitting something' on expressway

A Wheatfield woman faces a string of charges, including felony and misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated, after telling Niagara Falls police that she "hit something" on the LaSalle Expressway.

Officers said they found Tracy L. Poe, 44, sitting in her car in the 7600 block of Edison Avenue around 4 p.m. Friday. It was obvious from the damage to her vehicle that she had sideswiped an object, police said, with her vehicle having sustained considerable damage, including a pair of shredded front tires.

The Rebecca Drive resident told police she was en route to pick up her son and his girlfriend and had struck something on the highway, prompting her to pull off.

Poe was charged with first-, second- and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, police said, as well as having no license or registration, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway, and driving while impaired.
