Buffalo native killed in Florida collision

A Buffalo native and Grand Island High School graduate was killed earlier this week in a fiery head-on collision in Florida.

Jason Burridge, 35, died at the scene of the crash Monday on County Road 42 in Marion County, Fla., according to several media reports citing information from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Burridge, of Summerfield, Fla., crossed the center line while driving a 2013 Mercedes-Benz C250 shortly before noon. His car collided with a 2007 Toyota 4Runner driven by Robert R. Blystone, 69, of Murphy, N.C., according to the Ocala StarBanner and villages-news.com.

Blystone and a passenger, Marina Richardson, 68, were reported to be in serious condition in an area hospital as of Monday, the news outlets reported.

Burridge graduated from Grand Island High School in 2001 and attended the College of Central Florida.

A spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol could not be reached Thursday morning for further comment.
