Hayley Scamurra of the Buffalo Beauts scored three goals and assisted on another to lead Team Ott over Team Leveille, 8-6, in the National Women's Hockey League All-Star game played at TRIA Rink, the Minnesota Wild's practice facility in St. Paul, Minn.
Team Ott led 3-2 after the first of the two 25-minute periods with the first of Scamurra's three goals putting her team ahead to stay. Another goal by Scamurra, a Williamsville native who played at Northeastern, and one by her Buffalo teammate Corinne Buie made it 5-2 in the second.
Team Leveille rallied with four goals by Kelsey Koelzer of the Metropolitan Riveters but never caught up. Scamurra scored an insurance goal with 1:45 left in the game.
Kristin Lewicki of the Beauts had a goal and an assist for the losers, captained by Buffalo goalie Amanda Leveille, who saved 20 of 23 shots she face in the first period.
Buffalo return to action at 2:30 p.m. Sunday against the Boston Pride at Warrior Arena in Boston.
The Beauts have clinched the No. 2 seed in the NWHL’s Isobel Cup Playoffs and are set to host the first playoff game in their history. Buffalo, the defending Isobel Cup champion, will host the No. 3 seed in a single-elimination semifinal game on Saturday, March 17 at 5:30 p.m. at HarborCenter.
