ART OF BUILDING – Guest speaker is artist and architect Dennis Maher, a clinical assistant professor at the University at Buffalo, at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the IMAGINE Buffalo lunchtime lecture series in the Ring of Knowledge on the main floor of the Central Library on Lafayette Square in downtown Buffalo.
The program begins at noon with a Great Courses video on the architecture of suspension bridges. Admission is free. You can bring a lunch or purchase one at the library’s Fables Cafe. The series is sponsored by the Center for the Study of Art & Architecture; History & Nature.

HEALTHY OPTIONS – The Rural Outreach Center, 730 Olean Road, East Aurora, will offer a series of five free sessions about how to live with diabetes, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Providing current information on maintaining good health will be Don Birdd, a retired SUNY Buffalo State science professor who has lived with the disease for more than 20 years. Space is limited. CALENDAR DATE – The Women’s Club of Orchard Park will hold its monthly meeting at noon Wednesday in the Dove Restaurant, 3002 Abbott Road, Orchard Park.

MARDI GRAS MENUS – St. David’s Episcopal Church, 3951 Seneca St., West Seneca, will offer New England and Manhattan clam chowder for sale by the quart or for a sit-down luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Luncheon is $7, including a refill on chowder, bread, beverage and dessert.

Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 630 Main St., West Seneca, will serve its annual roast beef dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Dinners are $12, $6 for kids 4 to 12.

Calvary Episcopal Church, 20 Milton St. at South Cayuga Road, Williamsville, will hold its 12th annual Shrove Tuesday Jambalaya Supper from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Dinners are $10, $3 for kids 12 and under. Macaroni and cheese also is available. Diners are invited to bring palms from Palm Sunday last year for a Burning of the Palms at 6:30 p.m. to provide ashes for Ash Wednesday services.
