Driver with prior DWI charged with felony after Grand Island crash

Alexander F. Snow, 35, of Buffalo (State Police)

A Buffalo man without a driver's license who has a prior conviction for driving while intoxicated was charged Sunday morning with felony DWI after a crash on the I-190 on Grand Island, according to the State Police.

Troopers responded to the report of a two-vehicle crash at 2:17 a.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found Alexander F. Snow, 35, had left the scene on foot. He was caught a short distance away, police said.

Snow refused to submit to a breath test at the scene. He was charged with DWI, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, driving without an ignition interlock system, unlawful possession of marijuana, as well as vehicle and traffic violations.

Snow was arraigned in Grand Island Town Court and sent to the Erie County Holding Center without bail, police said. He's due in court Wednesday.
