Ironically named suspect charged in multiple thefts

A "known shoplifter" named Justus who eluded store personnel after trying to steal a cart full of merchandise from a Pine Avenue store in now charged in connection with that theft, and is also being held in connection with other, unrelated crimes.

Police charged Joshua C. Justus, 29, of Isherwood Drive in the Town of Niagara, with petit larceny for allegedly attempting to steal $75 worth of goods from the Dollar Tree store on Portage Road on Wednesday. Store personnel reportedly recognized Justus as a prior "known shoplifter" and watched as he filled a cart with merchandise before walking out of the store. He was confronted by a store manager in the parking lot and left the goods behind, fleeing the area on foot. All of the stolen merchandise was recovered.

Justus was charged in connection with that case after he was discovered to be in police custody on counts of third-degree robbery and petit larceny stemming from separate, unrelated incidents. No details were available concerning those cases.
