Amazon.com's lease for a Lancaster warehouse last year was the largest such contract handled by brokers in Western New York last year.
The Seattle-based online retailer signed a long-term lease for the 500,000-square-foot facility at 4201 Walden Ave., valued at $20.34 million. The company maintains a "sortation" center at that location, its second such fulfillment operation in the state.
That was enough to earn special honors for brokers Robert Schell and Richard Schechter of Pyramid Brokerage Co. and Steve Blake of CBRE, who handled the listing and leasing, respectively. The agents won awards Thursday night for the largest broker-assisted lease for 2017 from the New York State Commercial Association of Realtors.
Schechter also won for the largest transaction volume last year, with 41 deals. Gary and Chris Greco of Greco Real Estate won for the largest broker-assisted sale, for the $7.6 million deal involving 60-91 Oakridge Drive in West Seneca.
Additionally, retired Business First publisher and president Jack Connors received the group's President's Award, J.R. Militello broker Michael Alpern received the C. Stuart Hunt Lifetime Achievement Award, Buffalo Urban Development Corp. Vice President David Stebbins won Meritorious Service Honors, and Uniland Development Co. market research manager David Tytka received the Affiliate of the Year Award.
