Home of the Week: Cozy quarters in East Amherst

Mark and Gretchen Laskowski bought their East Amherst home in spring 2001. They have a daughter, Zoe, and two dogs, Finn and Tucker.

Here is what Gretchen Laskowski wrote for the News’ Home of the Week online feature:

“In 1999-2000, my husband Mark and I spent many weekends looking for a new home for our family, mostly in the Southtowns, but nothing was catching our eye.

“A close childhood friend kept pestering us about a home in East Amherst that her brother had built and framed, but the interior had not been finished. She was adamant, so we came to look and came back probably three more times. It was calling to us! We both thought yes, this is it.

“Seventeen years later it is a home that is cozy and filled with lots of great memories and love. We don’t take our shoes off coming in the door and we want everyone to be as comfortable as we are.

“We also have four smaller homes in the backyard – for our honeybees,” she said.

Do you love your house enough to show it off like the Laskowski family did? This could be your chance.

The Buffalo News is looking for other beautiful local homes and the stories behind them and their décor.
