Murder in Fort Erie results in arrest

A Fort Erie man was charged with second-degree murder after Niagara Regional Police received a tip and found a body at a property on Pettit Road near Sutherland Drive there.

Police said members of the Emergency Tactical Unit and negotiators responded to the unidentified site at about 10 a.m. Saturday to "check on the welfare of an individual." Police did not specify what happened after they arrived, but about five hours later, 32-year-old James Dylan Osborne was arrested without incident.

"Human remains" were then found, and homicide officials took over the investigation at the scene, which was secured by police and is now being processed by crime scene investigators. The victim has not yet been identified.

A police sergeant said Sunday that no other information was available.
