The hottest and most popular reads in Erie County

Looking for a new book to add to your nightstand or your e-reader?

How about:

  • An endearing story about a cranky neighbor.
  • The dark tale of a handmaiden living under a fundamentalist and repressive future government.
  • A thriller about a corrupt Florida judge.
  • The play about Harry Potter's son and his search for identity.
  • A personal look at the decline of the white, working class.

These stories stand out as the hottest and most popular reads in Erie County, as determined by an analysis of the most circulated and requested books by the Buffalo and Erie County Library system's 260,000 patrons last year.

"Truly, 2017 was a great publishing year with a wide variety of materials that proved to be popular throughout Erie County," said Buffalo and Erie County Library Director Mary Jean Jakubowski.

The most popular books were ranked in the categories of adult fiction and non-fiction, young adult and children's books, most-requested electronic books, the People’s Choice for Best Book as voted on by readers and the Library Employees' Choice for Best Book.
