Gordon G. Stewart III, chairman of the City of Niagara Falls Democratic Committee for the past three years, announced his resignation late Thursday in an email to reporters.
Stewart, 31, a city firefighter, said he just doesn't have the time for politics anymore.
When he took the position, "I had one son under one year of age. I now have three sons with a fourth due to be born in March," he said. "It has been both a challenge and a pleasure to lead the Democratic Committee, but nothing is more important than family and that is where my time is best spent at this point in time."
His successor will be Suzanne Macri, a staffer for Rep. Brian Higgins, who moves up from first vice chairwoman.
